Procter & Gamble detergent using a foil box for moisture protection

After a long period of research into the development of alternative packaging, Procter & Gamble replaced its detergent powder packaging carton with a film/cardboard carton. Danny Lu, P&G's senior engineer/researcher for detergent packaging, said that Procter & Gamble started to bring this packaging to market two years ago. P&G uses it to package new products, especially those that are rapidly dissolving. In 2002, Procter & Gamble began to replace all Tide laundry detergent products and Chilly and Gurney's brands into this new type of packaging.

Earlier, in order to improve the moisture-proof function of product packaging, Procter & Gamble examined a series of different packaging structures. Finally, the company selected AET Films' 60-ga GRX adhesive film to be applied to a single-sided white coated recycled paperboard. According to different sizes, recycled paperboard with 24 to 28pt caliper was used. GRX is an acrylic coated polypropylene film. The cartons are produced by Smurfit-Stone Carton Company and Special Packaging Group.

Consumers' complaints about the fact that detergents are easy to make into big chunks is the main reason that P&G makes such packaging changes. P&G's packaging researchers are very careful to listen to the opinions of consumers on the hotline. One of the main concerns is that with regard to agglomeration, consumers cannot successfully pour the product out. Instead, they can only use a spoon to dip the laundry detergent into the washing machine. This is an important issue for packaging research. "We can reduce this complaint." As Danny Road pointed out, some of these complaints are seasonal and local. "Since the packaging was changed, this complaint has been significantly reduced." The company will not announce that this is a major change, but "the new packaging does make the complaint greatly reduced." Danny Road said.

From a technical analysis point of view, this kind of coated paperboard improves moisture resistance by 50%. In the past, carton companies used two to three gravure printing workstations for coating. P&G also recognized that the use of external films would bring other important benefits: The surface finish was significantly improved over previous coatings. Especially the first impression of this kind of packaging to customers. The outer film greatly improves the appearance of the product. When used, the improved moisture barrier film also enhances the customer's second impression of the product.

Although these benefits are expected, P&G also reported on a number of other advantages of using laminated foil boxes. For example, after the change of packaging, carton processors do not need to use two workstations for coating printing, P & G can have more color and printing options. Procter & Gamble printed the instructions for use of some products on the inside of the carton in the lid. In terms of moisture protection, the current packaging is more stable and less deformable than previous coated packages. After inspection, P&G found that the laminated film not only provided moisture-proof properties, but also reduced the occurrence of deformation. This deformation is caused by the gravure printing cylinder or the printing speed, and the movement of the new tray in the P&G washing powder packaging line is more stable than before. Danny Way reported that “we can call the bending pressure of the material on the packaging line. This new material is more rigid and can achieve a higher index function, allowing us to adjust the equipment to make compensation. When we After all adjustments have been made, the movement of new materials on the production line is more stable than before."

When asked about reducing production time or increasing production, Danny Road said that he could not disclose any specific figures for new packaging. P & G refused to discuss the economic benefits of new products. "We think that's not a major issue." Danny Road said, "The team's high efficiency is more important. We work with carton suppliers and plastic film suppliers to solve manufacturing and economic problems."

Bar Stools are a type of tall chair, often with a foot rest to support the feet. The height and narrowness of bar stools makes them suitable for use at bars and high tables in pubs or bars. In the 2010s, bar stools are becoming more popular in homes, usually placed at the kitchen counter, kitchen island, or a home bar.[citation needed] Bar stools are becoming more popular in homes because they are available in varied styles. Bar stools also allow for a higher view when eating, drinking, or socializing.

There are many different types of construction materials and models. Bar stools are often made of wood or metal. Bar stools are made with and without armrests, backs, and padding or upholstery on the seat surface. Bar stools can range from basic wooden designs to more complex ones with adjustable height. Extra tall and extra short are common features, as well as indoor bar stools and outdoor bar stools. In commercial settings, swivel and floor mounted bar stools are common. Floor mounting renders the stool immovable, so it cannot be stolen or used as a weapon in a bar fight. Floor-mounted stools are generally mounted on a column, but stools with legs can also be secured to the floor using metal brackets.

Some bar stools use polyurethane foam as comfortable padding.[citation needed]. Bar stools can be made from rattan or bamboo; these stools can be used to create a tiki bar effect. A popular style in bars and restaurants is a retro 1950 and 1960s look[citation needed] which use chrome and vinyl stools combined with matching benches or diner chairs. Stacking stools are often favored for their space-saving qualities. Some establishments use matching bar stools and chairs.

Aluminum is often used outdoors. Stacking aluminum stools and patio chairs are used by commercial premises. Indoors, wood and upholstery are popular in traditional settings. Bar stools are used in pool or billiard halls and the style of chair customized for such use is often called a "spectator chair".
